ABOUT THE AUTHOR

This memoir won the Finch Memoir Prize at the Sydney Writers Festival. Alan wrote it in collaboration with his eldest son Ben. It is a retelling of the challenges both Alan and his youngest son Greg had as they travelled through the schooling years.

The story draws inspiration from the heart of father and son relationships. It questions social norms and community expectations and looks at ways to find courage in the face of grief.

The sequel to this book, Gypsy Chase 2, continues the story of Greg into adulthood.
